Manchester United to compete with Arsenal to sign £27m playmaker

Manchester United could reportedly compete with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan next month.

The Dane was previously on the radar of the Red Devils, but he turned them down to join Inter from Tottenham Hotspur last winter.

He has since endured a torrid time in the Serie A with manager Antonio Conte reluctant to hand him regular first-team action.

Hence, he has been touted to leave the club at the turn of the year and The Sun claims that United are in the running to sign him.

The Mancunian giants have vastly improved with the arrival of Fernandes in January, but they are still eyeing another attacking midfielder.

Eriksen was purchased by Inter for around £18m, but they are aiming to make a quick profit out of him, having set an asking price of around £27m.

Arsenal are also interested in the ex-Ajax graduate as they are desperately lacking the presence of a creative number 10 option in the squad.

Mesut Ozil has been deemed to surplus to requirements and it is unclear whether he will be registered to play during the second half of the season.

A swap between Granit Xhaka and Eriksen has been mentioned in the past, but The Sun claims that the Nerazzurri want his permanent exit.
