Mark Lawrenson makes surprise prediction for Chelsea FC’s game at Everton

BBC football expert Mark Lawrenson has made a surprise prediction for Chelsea FC ahead of their Premier League trip to Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues recently ended a two-match losing run with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at home and Tammy Abraham was the star of the show with a goal and an assist.

In comparison, the Toffees slumped to a third-straight league defeat as they were comfortably beaten by a 5-2 scoreline in the Merseyside derby at Liverpool.

Speaking on BBC Sport, Lawrenson has indicated that the Toffees could come up with a strong response on Saturday, given they have recently witnessed the dismissal of their manager.

As such, he has predicted a 1-1 draw for the early Premier League kick-off on Saturday and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will show up after their recent losing run.

Chelsea FC will see the return of Ross Barkley for the Merseyside trip but the England international may be restricted to a bench role after being out for nearly seven weeks following an ankle injury.
