Chelsea FC handed major injury boost ahead of Everton clash on Saturday

Chelsea FC have been handed with a major injury boost with defender Antonio Rudiger deemed fit to face Everton in the weekend’s Premier League encounter.

The Germany international has managed just 45 minutes of playing time for the Blues this term and he has been absent for more than two months with a nagging groin concern for which he has undergone a surgery.

Blues boss Lampard hinted last weekend that Rudiger is not far away from making a comeback and The Mail claims that the German has proved his fitness ahead of the Merseyside trip on Saturday.

In the absence of the German, Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma have featured at the heart of the backline but they have fared reasonably well over the past few months.

Still, they have been unable to register regular clean sheets and that has certainly been a cause for concern as the club have dropped points from winning situations.

Should Rudiger be match fit, he will definitely make the starting XI and it remains to be seen who gets the axe between Tomori and Zouma. The Blues are currently occupying the fourth place in the standings with a six-point advantage over fifth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
