‘It’s a blow’, Frank Lampard admits concern after losing key first-team star

Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard has acknowledged that it is definitely a ‘blow’ for the Blues with one of the first-team stars due to miss the Crystal Palace clash next weekend.

Jorginho had an impressive game for the Blues on Saturday and he directly contributed towards Tammy Abraham’s opening goal after a stunning long-range pass which split the Hornets defence.

Jorginho was culpable of conceding a penalty which gave the Hornets with a glimmer of hope but the Blues eventually sealed a 2-1 victory away from home.

While the result was pleasing to Lampard’s eye, he was certainly disappointed from the fact that Jorginho won’t be available for the Palace clash after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign.

“Really pleased, I enjoyed watching the way they played [Kovacic and Jorginho]. It is a blow to lose him. He has played a lot of games and it is time to use the squad,” he said.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been exceptional playing alongside each other and their long-range distribution has caught the eye under the guidance of Frank Lampard.

In Jorginho’s absence, N’Golo Kante could make his injury comeback next weekend and the same is the case with Ross Barkley, who has been carrying a minor ankle concern.

As a result, it won’t prove a massive loss for the club and Jorginho should make his return for the much-anticipated league clash against Manchester City after the international break.
