Chelsea FC dealt major injury blow ahead of Manchester City clash

Chelsea FC have been dealt a major injury blow with one of their in-form attackers likely to miss the forthcoming Premier League clash at Manchester City.

The Blues have been on a roll over the past few months and they have built a six-match winning streak in the Premier League which sees them in the third spot in the table.

During the backend of that run, Christian Pulisic has been a crucial performer with five goals from three appearances but it appears that he could miss the Cityzens clash altogether.

The United States international sustained a hip problem shortly after scoring against Crystal Palace earlier this month and that forced him to withdraw from the national team squad.

While it initially felt like a precaution, The Sun reports that the Blues may not be able to depend on Pulisic, who has yet to completely overcome from the injury setback.

In the absence of Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi remains the like-for-like replacement but the England international has much to prove after a number of average displays for club and country.

Instead of playing a third attacker, Lampard may resort to a three-man midfield instead in order to curb the Cityzens threat. N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho should all be fancied to start.
