Breaking: Raul Sanllehi begins talks with treble-winning manager to replace Unai Emery

Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi is reported to have made contact with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique regarding the head coach role at the club.

Unai Emery has been the subject of immense criticism from the fans this season and reports claim that he may be on the brink of being sacked after the 2-0 loss at the hands of Leicester City.

According to El Confidencial’s Kike Marin, Sanllehi is understood to be considering the option of dismissing Emery from the helm and Enrique could be the prime target with talks underway.

Enrique has been out of work since stepping down from the Spain national team role due to personal reasons and he has recently spoken about the ambition of coaching in the Premier League.

The 49-year-old, who has previously guided Barcelona to a treble, may not be the only candidate under consideration with reports elsewhere stating that Jose Mourinho could also come into the focus.

The Portuguese tactician has been out of duty since his United dismissal 11 months ago but he is determined to prove himself in the Premier League with another elite outfit.
