Manchester United will be eyeing their first league win of the month when they face Norwich City on the road this evening. The Red Devils managed to register a 1-0 triumph over Partizan in Europa League on Thursday night but their showing was far from acceptable with just one shot on target and that too resulting from the penalty scored by Anthony Martial.
Formation: 3-4-1-2
Predicted Lineup:
David de Gea was rested for the midweek game following his recent thigh problem. The Spaniard is expected to return between the sticks for Norwich trip. At the back, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to stick with the wing-back formation. Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Marcos Rojo should keep their central defensive spots with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ashley Young at right and left wing-back respectively.
In the midfield, Solskjaer is short of options with injuries to Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic. The Norwegian is expected to select Scott McTominay, who has been an ever-present figure from the starting XI. Fred is likely to partner the Scot after producing a notable display against Liverpool, where he showed some of the characteristics to his gameplay from his Shakhtar days.
In the attack, Solskjaer has already hinted that Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could be partnered together and it won’t be a surprise, if they start as the front two. Behind them, Andreas Pereira should be chosen ahead of the likes of Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard.
The Brazilian has been inconsistent with his showing this campaign but against the Reds, he was particularly impressive with the precision of his passing. The attacker will be useful in providing long balls for the forwards in Paul Pogba’s absence.
