Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that midfielder Paul Pogba is facing a race against time to be available for the Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The France international returned from an ankle problem during the midweek League Cup tie against Rochdale and played through the entire 90 minutes.
However, that has come at a cost with him suffering a swelling on his left ankle and Solskjaer has now confirmed that the midfielder is a major doubt for the Gunners clash.
“Paul was really struggling with his ankle as it was really swollen, so let’s see how that repairs. He got 90 minutes but was sore towards the end again,” he was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
Manchester United go into Monday night’s game with just one win from the past five matches. Aside from Pogba, they are also missing several other key players including Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, and need to put up a strong display to get a positive result against the Gunners.
Traditionally, they have had the better of the north London side at their stadium but they can’t take the visitors for granted, given the attacking prowess in their ranks. Mason Greenwood is likely to lead the line against Unai Emery’s side.
