Frank Lampard confirms return of two key Chelsea stars ahead of Brighton clash

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed the return of two first-team stars ahead of the weekend’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at home.

Speaking in a press conference, Lampard revealed that both Andreas Christensen and Olivier Giroud are likely to make the matchday squad after overcoming their respective concerns over the week.

Andreas Christensen suffered a knee knock during the league defeat to Liverpool last weekend and this contributed towards his absence for the midweek League Cup tie.

Still, the Dane was always a short-term absentee and Lampard has now confirmed the centre-back will return to the mix, although he has a little bit of pain.

Giroud, on the other hand, has failed to make the matchday squads in the past two games with an illness but he seems to have recovered from the same ahead of the Seagulls clash.

Michy Batshuayi starred in the midweek League Cup third round tie against Grimsby Town with a brace and Giroud surely has competition in his hands for the role of the back-up striker behind Tammy Abraham.
