Predicted Chelsea FC lineup (4-3-2-1) to face Liverpool, Kante and Pulisic start

Chelsea FC are scheduled to face Liverpool for the European Super Cup in Istanbul on Wednesday night. The Blues suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League opener where they were defensively poor but Frank Lampard will be hoping for a quick change of fortunes ahead of the testing challenge against Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Lineup:

Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to feature in goal and there are no question marks regarding his involvement despite conceding four times at Old Trafford over the weekend.

Blues boss Frank Lampard is unlikely to consider any changes in terms of the defence. With Antonio Rudiger still short of regular fitness after a long-term knee injury, Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen are likely to continue with their roles at the heart of the backline.

Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta had a forgettable day at the Theatre of Dreams, where he was guilty for conceding two of the four goals, but that won’t necessarily see him get the chop. He is expected to start at right-back with Emerson retaining his place on the opposite end after providing a positive performance against United, where he was an attacking threat.

In the midfield, Lampard should welcome N’Golo Kante to the mix after his cameo appearance versus United. We are predicting a three-man pivot with Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic accompanying the Frenchman, given Lampard may want to match Liverpool’s formation.

In the attack, both Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham may drop to the bench alongside Pedro. We are anticipating Christian Pulisic and Ross Barkley to feature in the attacking midfield roles with Giroud leading the line.

Predicted Chelsea FC lineup (4-3-2-1) to face Liverpool: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Christensen, Emerson, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pulisic, Barkley, Giroud
