Pulisic and Zouma start, Strongest Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Reading

Chelsea make the trip to Reading for this weekend’s friendly encounter. The Blues have won just two of their four friendly games this summer but they go into the Reading clash after a strong display in the 2-1 win over Barcelona.

Formation:

Predicted Lineup:

Kepa Arrizabalaga got his first chance in pre-season for the Blues against Barcelona where he played the entire 90 minutes. He should get another start in goal against the Royals.

In the defence, Frank Lampard may continue to stick with Cesar Azpilicueta and Emerson for the full-back roles. However, there could be a change in the central defensive department with Kurt Zouma returning to the lineup to partner David Luiz.

Elsewhere, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic should continue to act as the midfield duo and Lampard may consider offering them extra minutes playing together, given N’Golo Kante could miss the start of the new season with a knee problem.

Further forward, the attackers should remain the same from the previous game with Pedro, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic getting the nod to start the game. Olivier Giroud could, however, be tasked with leading the line ahead of both Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham.

Predicted Lineup: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Luiz, Emerson, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pedro, Mount, Pulisic, Giroud
