A section of Arsenal supporters have invited the interest from AS Monaco the services of Germany international defender Shkodran Mustafi. The 27-year-old has been with the Gunners for the past three seasons, but he has yet to convince the club’s faithful with his defensive abilities.
Mustafi was guilty of making a number of notable errors which contributed to the Gunners narrowly missing out on the top four last term, and this has brought about a negative response in pre-season where he has been booed on the field of play.
Amidst this, L’Equipe has claimed that Monaco have enquired over the possibility of landing the former Valencia man and few Arsenal fans believe the German’s departure would be for the betterment for the club ahead of next season.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter….
There has been minimal speculation regarding Mustafi’s future at the Emirates Stadium and reports have previously indicated that he could remain with the club for another 12 months to prove himself.
Amidst this, Laurent Koscielny has sought to force through an exit from the north London giants and this has further increased the need to keep hold of Mustafi.
At £27m, the Gunners would be doing meaningful business by sanctioning the German’s sale this summer, but that may largely depend on whether the club bring another centre-back to their ranks.
Juventus’ Daniele Rugani has been linked with a potential loan move to the club with the option to buy and that remains pure speculation at the moment with no movement in terms of discussions with the Bianconeri.
