Manchester United are reportedly prepared to put their efforts on signing Moussa Dembele from Lyon once Romelu Lukaku makes the switch away from the club.
The Red Devils have permitted Lukaku to hold negotiations with both Inter Milan and Juventus and reports indicate that the Belgian may ultimately join one of the Serie sides during the transfer window.
Amidst this, L’Equipe via Daily Record claims that Dembele has been earmarked as a transfer target and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seemingly desperate to land the Frenchman.
Dembele only made the move to the Ligue 1 from Celtic last summer, but he managed to make a good impression by contributing 20 goals and four assists across all competitions.
At present, Inter are reluctant to meet United’s £80m price tag for Lukaku and that could pave the way for Juventus to land his services, considering they could lower the transfer fee by offering United target Douglas Costa as a makeweight.
Based on this, it appears that Lukaku will eventually head through the exit door and that may bring about the need for a new centre-forward with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford being the only reliable senior options to lead the line.
Dembele, who scored a sublime brace in the 2-1 friendly win over Arsenal, is said to be valued at more than £40m by Lyon. He has four years remaining on his contract with Les Gones.
