Manchester United are reportedly confident of landing Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff as their second signing of this summer’s transfer window.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen on bolstering the squad with young British talent and he has already pursued Daniel James from Swansea City.
According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are said to have set their sights on other targets and Longstaff is among the leading names on their summer shortlist.
It is added that the Mancunian giants are confident of landing the midfielder’s signature with the Magpies likely to demand an affordable sum in the region of £25m.
Longstaff has recently appeared to pledge his future to the Magpies but the prospect of sealing a move to Old Trafford should prove a tempting factor for the 21-year-old.
United are currently blessed with numerous midfield options in the ranks but Ole is still keen on strengthening the department with Ander Herrera heading through the exit door.
Longstaff, who is presently recovering from a knee ligament damage, made his breakthrough with the Magpies last term where he registered 16 appearances while scoring on one occasion.
