Manchester United have made a formal bid worth £35m to secure the signature of Moussa Dembele from Lyon this summer.
The Red Devils experienced a tough 2018/19 season where they managed only a sixth-place finish in the league and this is expected to encourage the need for a summer rebuild.
According to Goal.com, the Mancunian giants have made an opening offer in excess of £35m for the former Celtic man, who has impressed since his move to Les Gones.
The marksman has netted 20 goals during his debut campaign with the club and reports indicate that his progress has impressed United favourite and ambassador Erik Cantona, who could play a pivotal role in the move.
United currently have Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku as the regular options to lead the line but a move for Dembele is likely to present doubts regarding the latter’s future.
Lukaku netted just 15 times in the recently-concluded campaign and they are suggestions that he could head through the exit door to facilitate the arrival of a new centre-forward.
