Chelsea ‘agree terms’ with South American midfielder ahead of transfer

Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes ahead of his potential switch to the Bridge from Zenit St Petersburg.

The 24-year-old has been identified as one of the prime targets to bolster the centre of the park this month after the Blues permitted the sale of fan favourite Cesc Fabregas.

In a report covered by 90min, the west London side have managed to agree terms over an £80,000-a-week contract with the former AS Roma man and they now have to finalise the transfer package with Zenit.

The FA Cup holders are deemed to have already failed with an opening bid worth £26.8m and reports indicate that the Russian giants are unlikely to accept anything less than £36m for their midfield enforcer.

Aside from Paredes, the Blues have also been linked with the services of Nicolo Barella from Cagliari but it appears that any deal could be finalised in the summer with the club reluctant to discuss a mid-season deal.

Chelsea have made the solitary signing in Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund this month, though the attacker has been sent back to the German side on loan for the rest of the season.
