Chelsea desperate to complete signing of 290-goal striker from European giants

Chelsea are reportedly desperate to acquire the signature of Gonzalo Higuain, although the deal remains complicated with both AC Milan and Juventus expected to be involved in the discussions.

The Argentina international has been heavily linked with the Blues since the turn of the year and his agent has already been reported to have held talks with the club’s hierarchy.

Still, there has not been much progress in terms of a transfer but The Sun claims that the club remain optimistic of pushing through a short-term loan move for the marksman.

At present, the Argentine is still committed to the Rossoneri with whom he joined on a two-year loan during the summer and this has made the move more complicated for the striker, who has netted 290 goals in his club career.

As such, the west London side are planning to hold negotiations with both the Rossoneri and Bianconeri to prise away the striker and the next few days could give an indication whether they can find a breakthrough.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Higuain could have a direct impact on the future of Alvaro Morata, who could be heading for a potential return to the Spanish top-flight during the current month.

Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are understood to be keeping tabs on the marksman but neither of the trio are likely to propose anything more than a temporary move with the obligation to buy.
