Chelsea agree £45m deal to sign Bundesliga youth sensation

Premier League giants Chelsea are understood to have reached an agreement to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign.

The Blues have been hot on the trail of the United States international since the summer and it now appears that they have found a breakthrough with a £45m deal agreed with their Bundesliga counterparts for the attacker.

Nonetheless, a mid-season deal appears unlikely and the Blues would have to wait until the conclusion of the current campaign to lure the 20-year-old away from Signal Iduna Park.

Pulisic currently has just 18 months remaining on his existing deal with the Bundesliga outfit and he has recently found gametime hard to come by in the league with the emergence of Jadon Sancho.

Still, Dortmund have stuck with their stance of keeping him for the season as they are likely to require every player to be at their best in order to end Bayern Munich’s recent dominance in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund are currently holding a six-point advantage over Bayern at the midway point of the season and they have a huge test of their credentials following the winter break where the expectations will be on them to deliver the goods.

Meanwhile, the Blues’ potential capture of Pulisic could present doubts concerning the positions of Pedro and Willian, who are on the wrong side of their 30s while the same could be said about Eden Hazard with the Belgian regularly linked with Real Madrid.
