AC Milan sporting director reveals whether Gonzalo Higuain will join Chelsea next month

AC Milan sporting director Leonardo has reportedly snubbed the ongoing speculation which has linked Gonzalo Higuain with a potential move to Premier League giants Chelsea.

A recent report suggested that the west London side could raid for the Argentine at the turn of the year with Maurizio Sarri keen on adding more competition for places upfront.

However, according to Leonardo, that simply does not appear the case and speaking to Sky Sport Italia, he has assured that the marksman has not asked the opportunity to leave the Rossoneri.

“My relationship with Higuain is very direct, he has a very important role for us, and he knows it,” he said. “We have never had any doubts about Higuain; no requests from Chelsea, nor has he asked to leave.”

Higuain joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan from Juventus during the summer and he made a positive beginning with five league goals by October.

But, his form has since been frustrating with not a single goal scored and this has recently ignited the speculation regarding his future with the Rossoneri.

Chelsea have not found much success with their strikers in Morata and Giroud, who have netted just six times in the top-flight this term and Sarri may still seek another marksman to ease the scoring burden on Eden Hazard.
