Brazil international Willian has reported for first-team training ahead of Chelsea’s Community Shield game versus Manchester City this weekend. The 29-year-old was initially expected to report for training on Monday but his arrival was delayed amid issues regarding his passport.
In a report covered by The Express, Willian has been pictured training with his Blues teammates ahead of the Manchester City game but he may not expect to feature extensively in the encounter, given he should be down on match fitness.
Aside from Willian, English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has also returned early from his World Cup holiday but there are no signs of Belgian trio Eden Hazard, Michy Batshuayi and Thibaut Courtois cutting short their vacation.
With this in mind, the above-mentioned trio could miss the Premier League opener at Huddersfield Town but they should build up their fitness ahead of the Blues’ first cross-town derby of the season against Arsenal on August 18.
