AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has acknowledged that Gonzalo Higuain has made his mind up to join Chelsea during the current transfer window.
The Argentina international is currently on a season-long loan with the Rossoneri but his stay is expected to be shortened in the forthcoming days ahead of his proposed move to the Bridge.
Speaking in a recent press conference, Gattuso confirmed that Higuain would no longer feature for the Rossoneri with the marksman speaking out his ambition to pursue a Premier League challenge.
“I accept his decision. Surely he could have done more and maybe we could have helped him fit in better. I want to be honest with you all,” he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
Higuain’s arrival at Chelsea is currently being stalled with the Rossoneri yet to find a replacement but reports indicate that they could sign Krzysztof Piątek from Genoa in the next 48 hours.
Thereafter, Higuain should be released to join the Blues from parent club Juventus. The striker is due to join on a temporary basis for the season, though the Blues can extend the loan deal by an additional 12 months with the option to buy for around £32.5m.
