Chelsea have reportedly agreed to part ways with Alvaro Morata after agreeing on a loan-to-buy agreement with Atletico Madrid for the striker’s transfer.
The Spain international has endured another frustrating season with the Blues with just five goals in the top-flight and it appears that the hierarchy have eventually decided to sanction his sale.
According to Goal.com, the Blues have agreed to permit Morata’s departure to Atleti on a temporary deal for the season with the obligation to buy for £48.5m in the summer.
It is added that the two-time Champions League winner has accepted to take a wage cut with the Europa League holders and the same would become active when he joins Atleti on a permanent basis next season.
Meanwhile, the departure of Morata is expected to be accompanied by the signing of Gonzalo Higuain – for whom the Blues have already finalised an agreement with Juventus.
The Argentine is currently on a season-long loan with AC Milan but the deal is soon expected to be terminated before the striker can make the switch to west London on a temporary deal to start with.
