BBC football expert Mark Lawrenson has given his prediction for the forthcoming Premier League encounter between Chelsea FC and Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have suffered successive losses in the Premier League coming into this game and this has certainly generated concerns whether the players may be struggling with fatigue.
Frank Lampard has gone with a particular set of players, who have played regularly over the past few months and things have not particularly gone as per the plan when the 41-year-old has chosen to make multiple changes.
Speaking ahead of the Villains game, Lawrenson admitted that he was surprised by the outcome of the London derby between Chelsea FC and West Ham United last weekend.
He added that it was probably a one-off for the west London giants and they should return to normalcy against the Villains despite their opponents’ impressive outcome at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“Chelsea’s home defeat by West Ham on Saturday was a very strange result when you consider how both teams had been playing, but I think it was just a blip,” he told.
Lawrenson has predicted a 2-0 victory for the Blues but it will be interesting to see whether Lampard’s side are able to keep a clean sheet which has been a rare case this season.
The Villains have genuine attacking threat coming from the likes of Jack Grealish and John McGinn and the former, in particular, needs to be kept quiet for the Blues to register maximum points on Wednesday.
