Chelsea could reportedly be edging closer to the signing of Gonzalo Higuain with Juventus having given the green light to sanction his permanent sale when the transfer window reopens.
The Argentine was on the radar of Chelsea during the summer but he instead opted to join AC Milan on a two-year loan deal after he felt less wanted by the Blues’ hierarchy.
Since then, Higuain has not enjoyed the best of times with the Rossoneri where he has managed just five goals and the speculation of late has suggested that the club could cut short his loan deal next month.
Amidst this, Sportmediaset claims the Argentine has asked for a potential reunion with Sarri at the Bridge and his ambition could be fulfilled with the Bianconeri having no concerns over his potential departure.
Higuain has previously worked under Sarri for just one season at Napoli between 2015 and 2016, but that period brought the best out of him with a career-high tally of 38 goals in all competitions.
As such, a reunion appears a no-brainer at the turn of the year but the marksman would certainly have to make an immediate impact, given he is already at a stage of his career where he can’t afford a settling period.
Chelsea have struggled for regular goals from their marksmen this term and Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud combined together have scored just six times among themselves.
