Leicester City playmaker James Maddison is open to the idea of joining Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window, Sky Sports reports.
The England international had a fine 2020/21 season for the Foxes, making 21 goal contributions.
He has been heavily involved for them in pre-season, but there are doubts over his future.
The Gunners are keen on luring him to the club, and they have now received encouragement.
Maddison would like to take the next step in his career, and he is open to joining the north London giants.
Still, a deal is far from being complete. The Gunners will need to pay a fee of around £70m to sign him.
They can’t afford the fee at the moment, and may need to recoup funds in the coming weeks.
With no player close to leaving the club, a move for Maddison could go down to the wire.
Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard has been identified as the alternative after his short-term loan stint.
However, the Norwegian appears likely to stay put in Madrid after Toni Kroos’ injury setback.
Kroos is out for four weeks with a groin problem. Odegaard has the chance to impress for the club.
