Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has provided an update on the injury sustained by Hakim Ziyech following the club’s 3-1 win over Leeds United in the Premier League at home.
The Blues jumped to the top of the table with the victory over the Whites, but the game ended on a disappointing note for Ziyech, who had to be substituted with an injury.
Following the game, Lampard revealed that the Morocco international had picked up a hamstring problem and the nature and length of the recovery process will be determined after further medical assessment.
“It is a hamstring injury which we will find out the severity of in the next couple of days. It is obviously a disappointment going into this busy period,” He told.
Chelsea are currently top of the standings with a one-point lead over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, but they could be leapfrogged by either side, if they win their respective matches.
They are scheduled to host Krasnodar in the Champions League in midweek and that should be a dead rubber with them having already sealed the top spot after the stunning 4-0 win at Sevilla.
Lampard will be hoping that Ziyech can make a quick recovery from the latest setback. The Moroccan was previously sidelined for more than a month which delayed him from making his Blues debut.
