Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has heaped special praise on midfielder N’Golo Kante following the club’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Kante has experienced an indifferent season where he has been in-and-out of the starting lineup and he managed just his sixth start of the Premier League campaign on Wednesday.
The Frenchman formed an impressive partnership with Mateo Kovacic as they orchestrated the play from the centre of the park and he managed to end the game with three interceptions, two crosses and two successful long balls.
Twitter reaction: ‘Real quality’, ‘World class’, these Chelsea FC fans are happy with display of ‘complete player’ vs Aston Villa
In the post-match press conference, Lampard was asked about the performance of Kante and his response was quite clear as he acknowledged the qualities of the World Cup winner.
“He is generally always good. There isn’t much you need to say to N’Golo. His ability to win the ball and to have the quality on the ball. He is an outstanding player,” he told.
Jorginho was afforded with a cameo appearance against the Villains with Kante and Kovacic getting the nod from the starting XI. Judging by the recent trend, it could be Kovacic dropping to the bench for the weekend’s league game at Everton.
