Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has provided a fresh update on the fitness of Ruben Loftus-Cheek following his side’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League last night.
Loftus-Cheek has been out of action since picking up a serious Achilles injury in May but he recently posted an update where he was performing some lightweight training.
As a result, there has been optimism among the fans that he may not be far off from a comeback but when asked about the same, Lampard has refused to state a proper timescale.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Lampard revealed that Loftus-Cheek has not sustained any recurrence of his injury but he has not recovered as planned.
Twitter reaction: ‘Real quality’, ‘World class’, these Chelsea FC fans are happy with display of ‘complete player’ vs Aston Villa
The 41-year-old added that there is no suitable return date for the midfielder at present, he told: “He hasn’t had a new one. It isn’t flying along as we were. We don’t have a timescale.”
Chelsea’s victory over Aston Villa has helped them maintain the advantage for the fourth position in the standings. They are currently six points ahead of Wolves in the race for the final Champions League spot.
