Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has provided a fresh injury update on Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley ahead of the club’s Champions League encounter against Ajax on Wednesday night.
The Blues have been without Antonio Rudiger since the middle of September with a groin injury but he has recently returned to first-team training.
Speaking in a press conference, Lampard confirmed Rudiger’s presence in first-team training but insisted that he won’t feature against Burnley as he continues to build up his fitness after the setback.
He added that N’Golo Kante has likewise returned to training after his adductor problem but he refused to provide any assurances that the Frenchman will return to the fold for the weekend clash against Burnley.
Alongside the duo, Lampard provided an update on Barkley by stating that the midfielder could return to training on Thursday after avoiding any serious ankle concern against Newcastle.
“Ross will hopefully be fit to train by Thursday. Rudiger trained with us today, he will be out of contention for the weekend [against Burnley]. N’Golo is similarly training but we’ll see for the weekend,” he was quoted as saying by TalkSPORT.
Apart from the trio, Andreas Christensen remains on the sidelines with a hamstring problem while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marco van Ginkel remain long-term injury absentees.
