Christian Pulisic has expressed delight over his individual performance during Chelsea FC’s 4-2 Premier League victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
The attacker has had a tough beginning to his Blues career where he has often featured off the bench and the Clarets game saw him earn a rare opportunity from the starting XI.
He made the best use of the chance by scoring his first-ever professional ha-trick and that eventually made the difference for the Blues, who registered their seventh-straight win across all competitions.
Following the game, Pulisic was asked about his maiden treble and he was delighted with the achievement despite the fact that the team failed to keep another clean sheet.
“It’s unreal. What a day for me. I’m happy with the result and I just wish we had the clean sheet but in the end it’s a special day for me. “I mean I’m not going to think about the clean sheet when I’m sleeping tonight but I’m very happy,” he was quoted as saying by Goal.com.
Pulisic’s stunning display has surely guaranteed his starting spot for the forthcoming round of matches and the onus now remains on Callum Hudson-Odoi to win back his starting berth.
There were previously calls for Willian to be dropped to the bench but that appears unlikely to happen with the Brazilian finding his feet under Lampard. He has bagged three goals and two assists from the past six matches across all competitions.
