Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James will be involved during Wednesday’s League Cup third round tie against Grimsby Town at home.
The Blues suffered a second straight defeat on the bounce after a 2-1 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League but there were plenty of positives after a strong second half performance.
With the upcoming League Cup tie, Lampard is bound to make multiple changes to the starting XI and he has confirmed that Hudson-Odoi and James could make their first first-team appearances of the season.
“[Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James] be involved on Wednesday night. We need to look at players that haven’t been playing so much. We will pay Grimsby due respect but it certainly is minutes for certain players that haven’t been there,” he was quoted as saying by Chelsea FC‘s twitter account.
Aside from the duo, Christian Pulisic is another, who should be expected to start the game after falling out-of-favour under Lampard shortly after the international break.
The USA international has earned no minutes for the club in the past three games in all competitions but he should have the chance to impress against the League Two side on Wednesday.
