‘He is going to be a world-class player’ – Frank Lampard predicts huge future for young attacker

Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard has predicted a huge future ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi and believes the teenager should commit his long-term future to the club.

The England international made his breakthrough with the Blues during the previous season and he made 24 appearances in all competitions before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.

Since then, they have been doubts emanating over his future with his contract expiring in 12 months’ time but Lampard remains hopeful that he can realise his full potential with the Blues.

He said: “I am not going to say things that are pie in the sky but, with his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to England.”

“He can show, right here at Chelsea, the team he came through the academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player – because I truly believe that.”

Hudson-Odoi has made just four Premier League starts for the club to date, but each one of those came between March and April after making his England debut.

As such, he picked up the injury at the wrong point of time and he may have to wait until the end of September before making a comeback to the first-team.

Hudson-Odoi is understood to have already been offered with a long-term contract and reports suggest that he may pen the deal soon, considering the assurances of gametime from Lampard.
