Spanish heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly expecting a bid from Chelsea for Philippe Coutinho, who has been earmarked as potential replacement for Eden Hazard this summer.
Hazard has enjoyed another standout season with the Blues this term and he was an influential figure in the club’s objective of securing Champions League football for next season.
Despite this, his future remains uncertain with his contract expiring in 13 months’ time and reports indicate that Real Madrid are on the cusp of signing him.
According to Goal.com, the ongoing saga has switched the Blues’ interest towards Coutinho, who has endured a difficult period during his first full season at the Camp Nou.
It is added that the Blaugrana expect a transfer offer from the west London giants and they are open to doing business despite the fact that the playmaker is keen on remaining with the club.
Chelsea are currently banned from signing players due to a two-window transfer ban imposed by FIFA but there remains the optimism that an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport will at least freeze the embargo.
