Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri has said that he is hopeful that Eden Hazard will remain with the club and will respect any decision made by the Belgium international.
The 28-year-old has just 13 months left on his current deal with the Blues and reports indicate that he could be heading through the exit door with Real Madrid keen on signing him.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw against Leicester City, Sarri heaped praise on the attacker for his efforts over the years and he remains optimistic that the Belgian will commit his future to the club.
“I hope he will stay. I think Eden has played here in Chelsea for seven seasons, trying in every match to do his best and now it’s time to respect his decision,” he told BBC Sport.
Hazard was crowned with the Premier League’s Playmaker of the Year accolade after contributing 15 assists over the course of the recently-concluded campaign.
He is set to feature for the Blues against Arsenal in the Europa League final this month and the game could potentially be his final appearance for the club, unless he pens a contract extension.
