Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has remained optimistic about his team’s chances of winning ahead of their Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Blues secured a 2-0 win at the Bridge in the reverse fixture and the result was somewhat of a surprise for many, given the west London club were not fancied to come up with the three points.
Similarly, the situation remains the same for the upcoming weekend but Sarri is hopeful that his team can deliver a similar performance from the back to the front.
Speaking in his press conference, Sarri acknowledged that his team were a little lucky in the previous meeting between the sides and the Blues can expect a very difficult game at the Etihad.
“I think we were lucky [in the last match vs City] because we scored in a very difficult moment in the match,” he was quoted as saying by Goal.com, speaking to reporters.
He added that the Blues need to be press harder when recovering the ball while restricting the same technique from the Citizens, who have excelled in doing so under Pep Guardiola.
“We need to be very fast when we’re recovering the ball. They are able to press really well and it’s difficult to find a way out of that situation. “If we can do that, we can do well,” he added.
Chelsea are currently occupying the fourth position in the standings but they need to avoid a defeat to ensure their prospects of maintain the final Champions League spot.
Otherwise, a loss could see them drop to the sixth position at the worst, should Manchester United and Arsenal win their respective games during the gameweek.
