Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has said that Eden Hazard can part ways with the Blues, should he want a fresh challenge at the end of the ongoing campaign.
The Belgium international has been reluctant to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2020 and this has raised doubts whether he would remain at the club beyond the current season.
In a report covered by Sky Sports, Sarri has indicated that Hazard’s position could be considered in the summer and it is up to the player to decide whether he wants to stay put with the club.
“Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go. Of course, I hope the opposite, I hope he wants to stay here. He has the potential to be the best player in Europe at the moment,” he said.
Hazard has flirted with the idea of joining Real Madrid over the past 12 months but he has likewise indicated that he may commit his future to the Blues for the long-term.
Chelsea are currently fourth in the league standings with goal difference separating them from Arsenal and reports have previously indicated that their return to the Champions League next term may be essential for him to remain.
He’s 28!
