Chelsea have confirmed their first signing of the winter transfer window with Christian Pulisic joining them from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of around £58m.
The United States international had been on the Blues radar from the beginning of December and talks over his proposed move intensified over the past few days with compatriot Eddie Johnson confirming the deal via an Instagram hint.
Amidst all this, the Blues have now officially confirmed the deal after Dortmund did the same, although the right-sided attacker is expected to spend the rest of the campaign on loan with the Bundesliga-based club.
Pulisic has found himself playing second fiddle to Jadon Sancho on the right side of Dortmund’s attack this term and this has largely resulted from fitness concerns and the emergence of the latter.
However, with his future now resolved, he could earn an extended run with Dortmund during the backend of the season where they are aiming to maintain their pursuit of the Bundesliga title.
Dortmund are currently holding a six-point advantage over Bayern Munich in the race for the German crown and they stand a chance of ending the latter’s seven-year dominance in the league.
