Arsenal keen on signing 23-year-old with 30 goal contributions last season

Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in landing the signature of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The Gunners are eager to bring in a new centre-forward, and they have been heavily linked with Chelsea ace Tammy Abraham.

However, they are keeping their options open.

Martinez has emerged as the fresh target for technical director Edu Gaspar.

The Argentine had a superb 2020/21 campaign for Inter, contributing 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

Inter are reluctant to sanction his sale this summer, but a significant bid could test their resolve.

The club recently sanctioned the sale of Achraf Hakimi for 60 million euros to balance their books.

They are still not in a position to make any new signings on permanent deals.

The striker has a release clause of 111 million euros on his current contract.

The Gunners may need to pay a club-record fee in order to entice the Nerazzurri into a sale.

Still, they face an uphill battle as they would also need to convince Martinez with their project.
