‘We need him’, these Chelsea FC fans believe £45m star can solve the club’s defensive concerns

A section of the Chelsea FC fans believe the club’s defensive performances will improve once Antonio Rudiger makes his comeback from a groin concern.

The Germany international returned from a long-term knee injury to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers in mid-September but he could only manage 45 minutes before picking up a groin problem.

Thereafter, the centre-back personally stated that he could make a comeback in November but a surgery has meant that he won’t return to action until the busy end of December.

Chelsea FC have fared impressively since the start of the league season and they are currently fourth in the standings with a comfortable seven-point advantage over Wolves in the pursuit of the final Champions League spot.

Still, their defensive performances have remained a concern with 19 goals conceded from the 13 games and that constitutes the worst defensive record among the top seven teams in the table.

Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori have certainly formed an impressive partnership together but some fans believe the experience of Rudiger could be better served at the heart of the defence.

Rudiger, who is valued at £45m, as per Transfermarkt, is currently the first-choice centre-back when fit and a section of the club’s supporters are eagerly awaiting the German’s return to the playing field.
