Ryan Giggs says Manchester United can start competing for trophies, if they do this

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes the Red Devils are capable of competing for trophies under the guidance of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the future.

The Red Devils have made an indifferent start to the current campaign and in terms of the Premier League, they are positioned seventh on the table with a seven-point gap to the top four.

Speaking to the United Stand, Giggs appreciated the efforts made by Solskjaer and stated that the club have benefited from the signings of Maguire, Wan-Bissaka and James over the summer.

He added that the hierarchy should continue backing their head coach and they need at least five to six more signings of the same calibre and that must include a creative attacking player.

“We need to bring quality in. Ole has brought three in who are all doing well. His dealings have been very good so far. Give him the money other managers have had to get Manchester United players. Get another five or six players like that in, we will see a real difference. They are missing that creative player,” he told.

United are scheduled to face Chelsea on the road in the League Cup fourth round tie on Wednesday night. They managed a comfortable 4-0 win in the previous meeting in the league but things won’t be easy this time around with the Blues in the better run of form.

The west London giants have won seven games on the bounce when compared to United’s two. In terms of the scoring, they have amassed 12 goals more than United in the same period of time.
