Manchester United have a verbal agreement to sign Champions League winner

Manchester United are reported to have already reached a verbal agreement with Juventus over the signing of Mario Mandzukic during the winter transfer window.

The Croatia international was touted as a replacement for the departed Romelu Lukaku last summer but the Red Devils could not strike a financial deal with the Bianconeri.

United went further to sanction the loan departure of Alexis Sanchez and that has certainly left them short upfront with Marcus Rashford struggling for form while Anthony Martial has been injured for more than a month.

According to Tuttosport via The Mirror, United have revisited their interest in Mandzukic and they have a verbal agreement in place such that the Croatian will join the club when the transfer window reopens on January 1.

At 33, the former Champions League winner does not have the pace to threaten the opposition backline but his physical attributes can provide United with a target man upfront.

The Croatian will only act as a stopgap option for the Red Devils but he is still better equipped playing centrally when compared to Rashford, who has lacked the striker instincts this season.
