Chelsea FC suffer fresh injury blow with star pulling out of international game

Chelsea FC have suffered a fresh injury blow with midfielder N’Golo Kante missing France’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Iceland with a hamstring injury.

The Frenchman picked up the concern in the lead-up to the Friday night contest and he was forced to withdraw from the squad with Moussa Sissoko taking his place in midfield.

The extent of the setback has not been revealed but The Mail claims that the midfielder could be doubtful for next weekend’s league clash against Newcastle United.

Kante has suffered multiple injury concerns during the current season and he had suffered a minor hamstring niggle in the lead-up to the Brighton game.

It appears that he may have suffered a recurrence of the same problem and that could witness Mateo Kovacic return to the starting XI for the Magpies clash.

Chelsea have suffered another setback on international duty with Reece James suffering a minor ankle concern but he is likely to training in the lead up to the Magpies encounter.
