Mark Lawrenson gives his prediction for Chelsea FC vs Liverpool FC

BBC football expert Mark Lawrenson has given his prediction for the upcoming Premier League clash between Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s side have experienced a mixed beginning to the season and they have accumulated just eight points from the opening five league games compared to the Reds, who have amassed the perfect tally of 15.

Ahead of the weekend clash between the sides, Lawrenson has provided his predictions on BBC Sport and the ex-Liverpool star has leaned towards a victory for the Merseysiders.

Mason Mount, who has been a key performer for Chelsea FC from the number 10 role, seems a major doubt with an ankle injury, and Lawrenson feels the attacker’s absence should give the edge to the visitors.

“It doesn’t look like Mason Mount will be fit for Chelsea after he was injured in midweek, which does not help Frank Lampard’s side,” he was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Chelsea FC played one of their best games of the season against Liverpool FC in the European Super Cup last month but they could not secure the trophy after the Reds beat them in the penalty shoot-out.

Both N’Golo Kante and Mount were key catalysts for the club’s dominance during the backend of that game but it appears that neither of them may make the starting XI this time around.

Kante has returned to training unlike Mount but the Frenchman won’t be risked from the starting lineup, given he has not had any match practice over the past month.
