Hudson-Odoi and James start, Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-2-1) to face Grimsby Town

Chelsea are scheduled to face League Two Grimsby Town in the third round of the League Cup tonight. Blues boss Frank Lampard has already confirmed that he will definitely make changes to the starting XI and the game could offer the chance to some of the younger and fringe players in the squad.

Formation: 4-3-2-1

Predicted Lineup:

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been ever-present for the Blues since the start of the season but he is likely to be rested completely for this game. Willy Caballero will be expected to start in goal for the Blues.

In the backline, there could be debuts for Reece James and Marc Guehi. Alongside him, Kurt Zouma and Marcos Alonso are likely to feature in a mixture of youth and experience in the backline.

In the centre of the park, Mateo Kovacic may assume the holding midfield role. Ahead of him, Ross Barkley should feature after being an unused substitute last weekend. Blues graduate Billy Gilmour is likely to accompany the Englishman and make his maiden start for the club.

Callum Hudson-Odoi could make his maiden bow after injury on the left side of the attack. On the opposite flank, Christian Pulisic is bound to start after being an unused substitute for three games on the bounce.

Upfront, it is a choice between Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi to lead the line and the latter could get the nod, given he has received the least minutes. Tammy Abraham will at best feature from the bench.
