Arsenal hit with injury blow for key star on international duty

Arsenal have suffered a fresh injury blow with Nicolas Pepe bowing out of international duty with the Ivory Coast with an injury which remains undisclosed.

The Ivorian has been a regular for the Gunners since his club-record move from Lille this summer and he has appeared in each of the opening four league games.

Among those, he has completed the entire 90 minutes against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur and he managed to secure his first assist for the club in the 2-2 draw against the latter.

While Pepe seemed fine after that game, the Ivory Coast have now revealed that the attacker has reported an injury and he has hence been allowed to return to the London Colney base.

With still eight days to the Watford game on the road, Pepe has sufficient time to recover, should he have picked up a minor injury during the opening weeks of the season.

Anything other than that could see the winger miss the Hornets clash and that would certainly prove a blow, considering the 24-year-old has been improving on a game-by-game basis with his performances.
