Manchester United ready to move for 23-year-old Champions League star, if David de Gea leaves the club

Manchester United could consider an approach to sign Ajax’s Andre Onana, should they permit the sale of David de Gea during the ongoing transfer window.

De Gea has been in a contract standoff with the Red Devils over the past year and this has left him with just 12 months remaining on his existing deal with the club.

According to The Sun, United are not actively looking at the prospect of selling De Gea, but they may consider the same, should a serious offer be made.

The same publication claims that Onana has been earmarked as a probable successor and the club could pursue him for a relatively affordable sum of 40 million pounds this summer.

Onana has recently come through a top campaign with Ajax where he helped them secure a domestic League and Cup double while also helping the club make progress in Europe.

The Cameroon international starred for Ajax in the Champions League last term and he put them within the cusp of reaching the final until Tottenham Hotspur made a tremendous comeback through Lucas Moura.
