Manchester United move fast to agree £49m deal for 24-year-old star

Manchester United are reportedly making efforts to secure the signature of Bruno Fernandes at the earliest opportunity amid interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Fernandes has been on the club’s radar since the turn of the year and it now appears that the hierarchy have made the move to sign him with interest from elsewhere.

According to Sport Witness, the Red Devils have begun discussions with Sporting regarding their leading performer and they are prepared to offer an initial £49m on top of add-ons amounting to £22m.

In comparison, Spurs are said to have proposed a one-time payment of £53m for the midfielder, although their offer could be dependent on the potential sale of Christian Eriksen.

As such, United seem to hold the advantage with funds at their disposal and they are keen on acting fast to pursue the Portuguese, who contributed directly to 33 league goals for Sporting last term.

The 24-year-old is currently on Nations League duty with Portugal and played through nearly the entire 90 minutes of the country’s 3-1 semi-final triumph over Switzerland
