Arsenal make £22m offer to complete the signing of Belgian star

Arsenal are deemed to have made a former transfer offer worth £22m to secure the services of Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain.

The right-back has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and he has recently admitted that he could favour a move to a fresh league.

According to TMW, the Gunners have shown their official interest for the player and have placed a £22m bid to convince Les Parisiens into a summer sale.

Arsenal have recently parted ways with Stephan Lichtsteiner with his contract reaching its conclusion and this is set to leave them with just Ainsley Maitland-Niles to operate at right-back.

At present, regular first-choice Hector Bellerin remains on the sidelines with Achilles injury and that has left Maitland-Niles with most of the burden for the role, considering Carl Jenkinson has failed to impress.

Calum Chambers is another candidate who can slot into the position on a short-term basis until Bellerin’s return, but it appears that Emery is keen on recruiting his former player from Parc des Princes.

Still, the deal won’t be straightforward with the defender’s fondness of arch-rivals Manchester United and the Old Trafford outfit could yet hold the edge in pursuing the former Club Brugge man.
