27-year-old French champion set to join Manchester United after rejecting Arsenal

French Ligue 1 champion Thomas Meunier is reportedly close to making the switch to Manchester United after turning down advances from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The Belgium international has been heavily touted to pursue a fresh challenge away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer after managing to start in just half of the club’s games during the recent league campaign.

Both United and Arsenal have been fancied to make the approach to sign him but DH.Be through The Express claims that the former have won the race to acquire his services.

Apparently, both teams have shown the eagerness to match the player’s £22m asking price but United seem to have edged ahead in the race due to the player’s preference.

Meunier has spoken about his love for the Red Devils on many occasions in the past and it appears that has played a major role in luring him to Old Trafford this summer.

United are expected to part ways with both Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian next month and that leaves them with Ashley Young as the sole experienced right-back in their ranks.

Diogo Dalot and Axel Tuanzebe are among the other options at hand but Ole seems keen on pursuing an experienced personnel and that’s where Meunier fits the bill with his relatively good all-round play.
