24-year-old attacker gives green light to sign for Manchester United, deal worth £70m on the cards

Manchester United have received a boost in signing Bruno Fernandes with the Portuguese said to favour the switch to Old Trafford this summer.

The 24-year-old has come off a splendid season with Sporting where contributed a staggering 32 goals and 18 assists and this has captured the attention of elite European sides.

Among those, United have been heavily touted to swoop for the Portugal international and Correio de Manha via Sport Witness claims that the club have received the green light from the player to advance with an approach.

Fernandes featured in both the central and attacking midfield positions during the previous campaign and he was more successful in the former of those roles.

He may not find the same amount of scoring success with the step up to the Premier League but he would nonetheless get straight into the starting lineup with the creativity offered.

Sporting are said to demand around £70m for the Portuguese star and that should be affordable for the Red Devils, considering they were able to spend £53m to pursue Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer.

Unlike Fernandes, Fred does not have an impressive scoring record in his armoury and that makes worthwhile to spend a little more on Fernandes, who should have the credentials to make an instant impact.
